About  The Batesville Connection
This tree is the result of the connection between a list of names in the 1900 federal census, a 1954 funeral home record and a 1955 obituary.

1900: Yellville, Marion County, Arkansas - The family of John and Elizabeth [Coker] Stinnett includes four children with the last name of Crawford (Dolph, Willie, Bessie and Freddie) who are recorded as John's stepchildren.

1954: Joplin, Jasper, Missouri - The burial record of my great-grandmother, Anna Stinnett Coker, lists a niece among her survivors, Mrs. Bessie Minor of Carthage, Missouri.

1955: Bessie Minor dies September 1, 1955 in Carthage. Her death certificate only lists her father's surname - Crawford. But, both her death certificate and her obituaries give her birthplace as Yellville, Arkansas. Among the survivors in her obituary are two brothers - Dolph McCurran of Batesville, Arkansas and [Norvell] Clifford Crawford of Springfield, Missouri.

I believe that Walsie Crawford Earls is a descendant of my Coker family (see Stories for my basic assumptions). This website is my attempt to walk backwards through time to find the ties that bind various Batesville families to my Cokers and Stinnetts from Yellville. Most of the names have been culled from public record sources such as obituaries and county records (birth, marriage, death).

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
